In this two-hour workshop you will learn the 5 basic principles of STOTT PILATES®: breathing, pelvic placement and stability, rib cage placement, scapular stability and cervical placement. Knowledge of these principles will help you to build core strength, balance muscular development on each side of the body and protect your back.
You will learn the 5 basic principles of STOTT PILATES® through foundational exercises, which are often used in a traditional mat class. Michelle will also give background information on Joseph Pilates, the beginnings of pilates and where it has progressed today. The workshop will conclude with a full one hour STOTT PILATES® power paced mat class.
Pilates is highly complimentary to yoga. You can apply pilates principles to any yoga practice to help you find stability in balancing postures and alignment in standing, prone and supine postures. We highly recommend this workshop to current pilates practitioners, yoga practitioners and sculpters alike!
