Vinyasa 101: Sun Salutations & Standing Postures with Natalie Ginapp

In a fast paced Vinyasa class, sometimes it’s hard to know the proper alignment of each posture. If you’ve ever left class wondering how to do a posture correctly, than this workshop is for you!

In this two part series, we will focus on Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskara) and the typical postures that are integrated into Vinyasa – a style of yoga that links movement with breath. You will learn with detail each posture in Surya Namaskara A & B, the foundation of any Vinyasa practice. Instruction will include modifications for plank, chaturanga, upward facing dog & downward facing dog, to make the practice suitable for any body.

The first workshop will focus on Surya Namaskara A and open hip standing postures such as Warrior II, Triangle, Half Moon, Horse and Tree pose. The second workshop will focus on Surya Namaskara B and closed hip standing postures like Warrior I & III, Pyramid pose, Twisted triangle and Standing Splits. Each posture will be explained and practiced with attention to alignment & modifications for each body.

Expect to leave with a better understanding of alignment, anatomy and how to modify your practice in any Vinyasa class. This is a great opportunity for beginners to learn the basics of each posture and for seasoned practitioners to refine their skills. Join us!
